I'm transcribing music in Finale 2012 on Windows. I'm looking for a symbol I've often seen used in brass band music, which means "this bar is exactly the same as the preceding bar". It's not a repeat, but a way of avoiding having to write out that bar of music however many times. The symbol is a / with a dot above and below it. Does Finale have it?

Why is that sign still used? It certainly made sense when you were hand copying music, but why now, when you can simply copy and paste?

You can save a lot of space by using One-Bar Repeat or Two-Bar Repeat.

Saving space can be essential in parts for instruments where both hands are in use.
You need to plan page turns at places where there are rest measures.

I can only guess that you don't play Broadway style shows. Counting the repeated measures during play is just as important as counting rests in he pit.

It can also be easier to read the repeat-measure symbol than to read the notes and discover they're the same. Of course, it can be abused in the opposite direction, repeating a measure too complicated to easily reproduce.
