Hello there
Is it possible for a guitar tab to show stems only in specific parts?
I have a piece with an opening arpeggio section where I need room on top to display chords images and another strummed part that I like
to notate with stems.
I don't care for playback

In alternative is there a way to enlarge the distance between the tab staves to accomodate stems and chords images?

Thanks in advance

If I understand you correctly, there is only one TAB staff, and you are trying to show stems in some measures (regions) only, right?

I would use a custom staff style, and apply that staff style where needed.

I hope that this is clear?
If not, ask again.

To adjust the distance between systems, use the Page Layout Tool.
Basically you must edit the system margins for each system.
This can be done precisely (for high quality professional engraving) via the dialog box Edit System Margins.
Or quick-and-dirty via dragging.

Hello Peter, under Staff attributes/ Stems settings I unchecked all and now there is enough space on top for the chords.

Can you tell me if I can use Rhytmic Notation in some misures, and standard notation in other misures of the same staff?
Do I set up this in Define Staff Style?

It would be great if I could use standard frets numbers notation on the arpeggio and Rhytmic Notation on the accompainment.
I mean all in the same staff/part.

Staff Attributes and Staff Style are not the same thing.
This is basic stuff, and you should be aware of the difference.

Staff Attributes are “global” (= for all the measures in the entire document).

On The Other Hand, a Staff Style can be applied “locally” (= for a selected region).
In Other Words:
You can use a staff style to change the Staff Attributes in a “local” region.

Yes.
However, defining the staff style is not enough.
When you have created your custom staff style, select the desired region, and apply your staff style to the selected region:
Staff menu > Apply Staff Style To > …
