I'm using the V25 Trial which is almost up.
ASUS Laptop with Windows 10

Pizz. doesn't play back as pizz. Is this again cuz I'm using a trial version?

I don't get pizz with your file, either, so probably not demo related. Did you change HP settings?

All over the score in faint lettering is HP on.

I'm wondering also, is it critical to playback where on or near the staff these directions are placed. cresc., rit., pizz. etc.
How does Finale pick up these directions?

Looks to me like you have it in the right place. I wondered if it was related to having the music in layer 2, but I moved it to layer 1 to no avail.

I thought I remember reading here that you need key-switch instruments, or something like that, for pizz. Is that something that is included in the demo version, or do you need the Garritan add-on for that to work?

Or am I completely off base?

I barely use VST playback, but I do have a piece which successfully plays pizz, and his does not. Would the non-switchness manifest in the file or the playback?

Mess with HP settings? I don't even know what HP is. As I said, all over my score in faint print is "HP on" Should it e on or off?

I just notice that above the score, between Plug-ins and Window, is the category "Simple." Opening that I find Use MIDI Device for Input is checked. I don't have a MIDI device hooked up. For what ever reason, "HP on" is now "HP off". Still no pizz.

I can't help you. Perhaps it does have to do with the trial version.

The menu item Simple will show up when you have the Simple Entry tool selected.

Use MIDI device for input should be UNCHECKED.

Since I have only a few days of the trial left, I'm going to contact John at Finale We've talked before.
Not with much success unfortunately. I want to find out what is and isn't in the trial.

I'm going to guess that the answer is yes. The Garritan Instruments for Finale (known GIFF around here) are not included with the demo. I don't know that you have a pizz library available except for double-bass.

Not using the demo nor Win10, I could be wrong. I have no way to check.

Keep in mind that, like Sgt. Schultz, I KNOW NOTHING!

As far as I know, I have nothing loaded other than SmartMusic SoftSynth, no GIFF, or anything else.
I set up a doc from the Wizard, with cello. I entered eight notes, and applied the Pizz expression to four of them.

With HP set to Standard, (or anything other than None) it plays back correctly. So I don't think it's the lack of Garritan.

I didn't see the HP Off in the first measure of the Double Bass. It is there twice. Delete both of those and now pizz plays.
