I have a score in TTBB format that I've imported into Songwriter 2012 (on Windows 7) via a MusicXML file.

I would like to reformat this as a Male Barbershop template - or copy and paste the 4 different parts into 4 layers on a barbershop template.
When I try pasting the second part into layer 2, layer 1 disappears.

Am I attempting the impossible?
Any advice much appreciated.

SongWriter is a more limited program then Finale. You may want to post your question on the SongWriter forum to get more specific response for the program you are using. Having said that, since there are very few users of SongWriter, and probably fewer still that report on that forum, you might not get much response. The options available in SongWriter are limited.

Easy. I'll assume you have tenor and bari in layer one, lead and bass in layer two. (If you don't, set them that way.)

Open the BBS template. Copy the tenor and bari lines into the staves.
Go to the Document menu > check Show Active Layer Only.
Switch to layer two, and the existing notes should disappear. That's fine.
Copy the lead and bass lines (in Layer two) into the template.
Go back to the Document menu, and uncheck Show Active Layer Only.

Done.
