I must be overlooking something very basic. I do not see how to delete notes from a measure without deleting the entire measure. I would actually like to delete all the notes from the piece but leave the form (measures, repeats, etc.) intact. Is there a way to do this (without having to delete each note individually)? Thanks.

I answered your other question and now realize you are using PrintMusic 2007, so I don't think I can be of any help. You might want to post on the PrintMusic forum, as here, you will be getting advice for the full Finale program.

The newer version has a Clear All Items command, but I don't remember how far back that went.

Try this, though. Clear the notes from one measure, the hard way. Use Paste Multiple (if 2007 has it) to paste the empty measure to the end of the score. I think you will have to repeat this for each staff.

Printmusic doesn't have Select All and then Clear?

2014.5 does. But I can’t open any of my older versions.

EDIT; A search of the user manual for 2009 shows the Clear All command in the Edit menu. But that’s as far back as the manuals go. So, to the OP: check your edit menu for a Clear All command.

Sorry everyone. I am using Finale 25. I just upgraded from PrintMusic and forgot to change my profile. DOH.

Clear All deletes the repeats as well as the notes. I want to delete the notes and preserve the form.

Select and then Clear Selected Items did the trick! I just needed to deselect the items that I did not want cleared in the dialogue.

Thanks to all who responded!

Select the measure(s), then hit the backspace key.

Does that do what you need?
