I have a piece with 5 instruments. I want to add a 6th one. But, when I add the staff, any change I make to the instrument selection for that staff also changes the first staff.

BTW, the 7th, 8th, etc staff I add are all linked to the same instrument setting. Change one, changes them all.

BTW2, this doesn't seem to happen on a brand new file. Just with this existing one.

Is there a setting I'm missing? How can I add a new INDEPENDENT staff?

I suppose that you mean playback, not layout, right?

In the window Instrument List make sure that the different instruments are on different channels.

It's both. The box on the left where it displays the instrument for the staff and where you select the desired instrument all seems to be linked. I change the instrument or the channel or even just the name and it changes in the other staff boxes, too.

In the window Instrument List you are viewing by Staves, right?

It sounds like there is some sort of file corruption here.

Can you create a new instrument - with independent channel and MIDI instrument?

Can you assign this new instrument to one of the "problem staves"?

Could you e-mail me a sample file?
