Split Measure

Hello all,
I've figured out how to use the split measure command to send beat 3 (of a 3 beat measure) to the next line. However, when I do this, it seems to push the rest of the measures off the music completely. If I do it once, then the last measure disappears...twice, and two measures are gone, etc.
Not only that, but when I installed Finale2007 (the demo version), the user manual isn't there. I've written to Finale's support people about this, and have searched everywhere (on my computer, this forum, and elsewhere). If something has escaped my searches, please let me know.
Any hints for the split measure problem?
Thanks. I've learned tons already.

1. "If I do it once, then the last measure disappears...twice, and two measures are gone, etc."
If I recall correctly, this is a bug in the plug-in Split Measure.
The last measure also disappears when you run the plug-in Create Handbells Used Chart.
It's fixed in Finale 2007a.
Workaround:
When you have run the plug-in once, and the last measure has disappeared, you can make the last measure re-appear:
Switch to Speedy Entry Tool.
Click the last visible measure to position the Speedy rectangle there.
Hit the RightArrow key, and the rectangle moves to the last measure, making it visible again.
Save the document.
(You could also add an empty measure to the end of the document before you run the plug-in)
2. The PDF manual for Finale is huge: approx. 100 MB
I don't think that the PDF manual is included with the Finale demo, since the demo is a download.

Thank you! I'll give that a try.
[edit: it worked! thank you!

Do you know where I could download the user manual, or find it in some other form?

Hello again,
How do I go about hiding the rest on the last measure (first measure is a pick-up measure) so that the counts add up?
Thanks!

To create a "pick-down measure" containing the first two quarters of a 3/4 measure:
Time Signature Tool.
Double-click the measure.
In the dialog box Time Signature, click the button "More Choices", and click the option "Use a Different Time Signature for Display".
You have now set the measure to display its time signature as 3/4, even if the real time signature is something else.
In the upper pane, reduce the "Number of Beats" to 2, and click OK.
Playback will be correct in the "pick-down measure":
Playback will stop immediately after two quarters.
By The Way:
You can create a pick-up measure the same way.
When the pick-up measure is created in this way, playback of the pick-up measure will begin immediately - you won't have to wait for some invisible "placeholder rests" before the first entry.

Well, you split the measures with the plug-in Split Measures.
Perhaps the plug-in Merge Measures will re-join the measures you split?
