I am using Finale 2007. I want to have on the same page, say the trombone part for different hymn tunes. At the end one tune, I want to start a different tune, new key signature, new time signature and measure counting starting from 1 again. i.e. each individual tune is treated as a completely new piece of music. I want to fill up the page like this. Possibly 7 or 8 different tunes per page. Depending on where one tune finishes, the next one might start on a different line of music or the same line of music.

1) Enter it all as one, long tune.

2) Measure menu > Measure Numbers > Edit Regions...
Set up a Measure Number Region for each tune.

3) To separate the tunes, in the Measure Attributes for the first measure of each tune, select the option "Begin a New Staff System".

4) In the Measure Attributes for the last measure of the previous tune, select the option "Hide Cautionary Clefs, Key and Time Signatures".
Also, while you're here, you might like to choose a Final Barline.

4) In the case where you want to begin a new tune on the same line as the previous tune, de-select the step 3) option "Begin a New Staff System", and instead use the plug-in "Create Coda System" which you can find here:
Plug-In menu > Measures > Create Coda System
The plug-in positions two systems next to each other.
You don't have to run the plug-in, since the same (= positioning two systems next to each other) can be done manually (it just takes longer time to do it manually).

Thanks Peter,
One thing that is still not correct is that, say the second, separate tune is in the same time as the previous tune, I cannot show the time signature at the start of the second tune.

To make the time signature appear, in the Measure Attributes for the first measure of the second tune, set the time signature to "Always Show".

Once again, thanks. It is so easy when you know how. I searched for ages to try and find the solution.

How do you know so much??
Thanks

Spend some time in the forum, and help other Finale users.
By solving other's problems you sometimes get ideas that you can transfer to a solution of a quite different problem.
