Hi all,

I have a vocal line with some ornaments that aren't playing correctly, so I wrote the rhythm out precisely in layer three, and applied blank notation style to hide those messier notes. Then assigned playback to the hidden layer.

This worked beautifully, until I went in to change one note. Clicking on layer three (with show-active-layer-only) brought up the apparently empty staff, whereupon I "unhid" the relevant note and changed it. But, having done so, I can no longer hide it again. I've tried selecting the bar and applying the staff style again: no change. I selected the whole staff and applied it again: this time, it left the notes visible in layer 3 but hid all the notes in layer 1!

Clearly I'm missing a setting somewhere. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

(ps ... I can hide the note individually in speedy entry, but then it's unavailable for playback... which is its only purpose.)

Posting the doc would help us figure it out.

Sure -- see attached. The issue is in bar 7 of the Soprano 1 part. (I did manage to restore the visible notes in layer one, but am still trying to hide the sounding notes in layer three.)

Do you mean measure 8?

The predefined Blank Notation staff style is for layer 1. You need to define a new one for layer3.

Perfect! That did the trick -- many thanks.

And yes, I meant bar eight. I'm another musician who can't count, apparently....

I saw "normal notation" applied to one of the staves--I think you can get rid of that.
