Hello All,

I am trying to hide a blank staff from a piece that I did not create. The systems are not locked and this staff is not part of a group.

Finale will not hide it when I tell it to. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have a couple of ideas.
There are several possible culprits.

But without seeing an actual .mus document I can only guess.
I suggest that you attach a small (= max. 100 KB) .mus sample document that shows the problem.
Before you can upload a .mus document to this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.

Hey Peter,

I totally understand but this is not my piece of music. It is a copywritten score that I am working on for my company and I am not allowed to upload to the web. If there is any way you can give me your suggestions without the pic, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If not, I totally understand.

In order to find the culprit we don't need the copyright music.

Make a duplicate copy of the .mus document.
Open the duplicate, select all the music, and clear it.
(and delete all text blocks, if necessary, to avoid copyright violations)

Then attach the - now empty - duplicate document here in the forum.
And specify the location of the blank staff you can't hide.

Aha! Didn't think of that! Will do tomorrow!

Thanks Peter!

twistiejoe,

Unfortunately the user Davidabb never attached a Finale document here, so the culprit remains unknown.

Anyway, your own issue with a staff that you can not hide, may not have the same culprit as Davidabb’s problem.
If you attach a (small) Finale sample document here for the gurus to examine, then I am confident that the culprit can be found.

Before you can attach a Finale document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.

To reduce the file size you can
- Delete the music. We only need to see the empty staves.
- Delete all items in selection dialogs like Expression Selection, Articulation Selection, Chord Suffix Selection &c.

[sidebar, after proofreading all day] I wonder if anybody ever told him that the past tense of "copyright" is "copyrighted"? [/sidebar]
