Removing bass staff in parts of a Piano Sheet

How do I remove the bass staff in parts of a piano sheet? I've written something where I want a specific left hand figure in parts of the score, but mostly, just slashes and chords in G-clef would do fine. Anyone?

In Finale 2012, Staff Tool>Staff menu>Groups and Brackets>Edit...

In that dialogue box, When Hiding Empty Staves> (change the dorp-down to) Hide Normally, OK

Back in your score, Staff Tool> right-click the handle of the staff you want to hide>Hide Empty Staves

NOTE: this has changed from earlier versions. If you are not using F2012, please tell us what you have.

I have Finale 2010. I found a way to hide staves in a full score, using optimize score. But for the piano part, I still haven't found the way.

It is basically the same in Finale 2010:

In the Group Attributes for the piano staff group there is a pop up menu where you can control, how the staff group should behave during optimization.

See the attached screen shot.

When you have chosen "Optimize Normally", you will find that Optimization does remove empty staves in the piano staff group.

The above solution didn't work for me. I have a PC and Finale 2010. "Optimize Normally" followed by Optimizing those systems didn't make the piano left hand go away even though it was empty. Is there another factor, perhaps? I worked around it by allowing margin collision, using Staff Styles to hide the left hand, and manually scooting the systems close enough together, but I'd like to know how it's actually done so I can save time in the future. If anyone can help, please.

Best,

blueskies

The culprit could be a setting in the Staff Attrobutes for the staff that refuses to go away:

To remove bass clef in piano part: Staff tool---Staff menu---Group and Bracket---Edit---(Hiding empty stave)---Hide Normally---Right click stave handle box---Hide empty staves...This was quite a puzzle. I am working with Finale 2012. Be encouraged. :D
