Hello,
I'm trying to change the abbreviated staff name for a percussion part but just for a few pages, not for the whole score. I looked at doing it in the score manager but that effects the entire score. I'm changing from timpani to gongs, so I want it to say gongs just for a page or two.
Normally I'd do this by actually changing the instrument under the utilities menu, but when I do this it changes to a single line staff, which is no good as I am using specific pitches for my gongs. So alternatively if somebody can explain to me how to adjust the style for gongs (I figured out how to make it a five line staff, but it still will only let me uses certain pitches which are assigned to various non-pitched instruments). Please help!!
Thanks

You can change the Abbreviated Staff Name via a custom Staff Style:
Staff menu > Define Staff Styles…
Apply your custom Staff Style to the measures where needed.

I know this is an old thread but, i tried to do the steps above and couldn't get my abbreviated staff name to temporarily change.
I do know that i have to apply the staff style to the desired measure once the staff style has been created in the "define staff style" window.
Could a kind soul post a step by step on how you'd do it? Thanks
PS. i attached the staff style window for the new style i created. If you see something wrong let me know, thanks.
