I have a piano piece going from p.1 -10 and I am trying to delete pages 8-10. I deleted all the notes from p.8-10, then I used Page Layout, delete blank pages, and selected the page range but they won't delete. There is nothing on those pages except the staff systems - no notes. Why won't they delete?

The fact that you delete the notes does note create blank pages, as the staves are still there.
What you have to do is deleting measures, in the whole region that you want to delete. Make sure you select the whole measure stack (with a double clic) before you hit backspace.
Then pages will readjust, and usually it is not even necessary to delete blank pages, as there won't be any.

To expand on that, double click in the first blank measure. That will select the stack. CTRL+End will extend the selection to the end. Then,DELETE. On occasion, when I do that, the blank pages remain. Update layout generally takes care of it.

Still not getting it. When I click in the upper staff, then shift/click the lower staff of a measure, the whole measure is highlighted plus a little extra highlight above and below. Then it allows delete measure stack. But when I click the upper staff and then shift/click the lower staff several measures away, only the staves are lighlighted, not the whole area around the measure. Am I clicking wrong? Sometimes it shows delete stack, sometimes not. I'm using the measure tool. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Just double clicking should select the stack. No need to click above and below.

I had to delete staff by staff. I couldn't delete pages consistently but maybe this had to do with multiple staves in one system. So I did it one by one.

Did you have any hidden staves? That might account for some difficulty.

There are indeed hidden staves. That may be what is causing the problem. I have managed to delete, but I had to do it system by system, one after another.

Aha! I'll bet that if you showed the hidden staves on those pages, you could do it with no problem.

Of course, you've already done the task, but keep this in mind for the future!
