I've created a template/document to use for a book I'm making together with a friend. We both are using the 2014 version of finale for Mac. The template works perfect on my computer but is acting a bit strange/different on his computer.

For example: When I write a note in a bar, the bar line doesn't change. It's stays the same. That's the way I want it, can't remember how I did but it works fine!

What are the changes my friend can do to have the exact same "functions" as I? To have finale act the same way on his computer as on mine!

Doesn't work with just sending the template/document to him. And we've already tried that I save a library that he opens.
We've also gone through all settings in document options, and the values seem to match perfectly. Any ideas?

Thanks//Anders

1) I am afraid I do not understand the meaning of your words “doesn't change” and “stays the same”.
It sounds like you are saying, that the barline is “changing”, when your friend uses the template??
What is going on, exactly?
There are 8 barline styles in Finale:
Normal, Double, Final, Solid, Dashed, Invisible, Tick, Custom.
Are you saying that the barline style is changed, every time a note is entered?

2) Anyway, I suggest that you consider the possibility, that the culprit is not document specific, but rather program specific.
Send your friend a copy of your Finale Preferences file.
To find the Preferences file, go to the Library folder in your user account
(not the Library folder at Root level).
Path:
(user account)/Library/Preferences/Finale 2014 Preferences

(There is also another file in the Preferences folder:
com.makemusic.Finale.plist
But I seriously doubt that the .plist file is relevant for your issue)

"the bar line changes" = the width of the measure changes? Have your friend shut off automatic spacing.

Yes, exactly! Sorry for not specifying that! And how can you shut off automatic spacing?

Automatic spacing, found it, tried it and YES!!! That was the problem!

Thanks a ton!
