turning two staves into one melodic line
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I have this kind of piano melodic line shown in the attached file
- The rests disappear
- All the 8th notes are joined together through the two staves
I've tried all the plugins and rebeam utilies but nothing seems to work. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Than you very much. That is exactly what I was looking for . One more thing: is it possible to set the "joining line of the eight notes" (don't know how to say that in English) in the middle of the two staffs?

Yes. I moved the beam with the Special Tool Beam Angle tool, and then reversed the stems (where needed) with the Reverse Stem tool.

Well, I already know how to do the whole thing, expect for the whole rest that appears and that I can't delete. I imagine that it should donde using the cross staff plugin, but after trying every single combination of configurations it doesn't seem to work. This is the result:
Thank you very much in advance.- Peter Thomsen

tognaco,
Take a look at my document “CrossStaffNotes2012.mus”.
In the lower staff the so called “Default Whole Rests” are hidden with a custom staff style that de-selects the option “Display Rests in Empty Measures”.
To see how the staff style is set up, switch to the Staff Tool, and go to
Staff menu > Define Staff Styles…

You can break/join beams individually with the / key (You are using the Speedy Entry Tool, right?).tognaco wrote:…The most difficult part was to figure out which time signature I had to choose to make the "Rebeam to time signature" work.
In this particular case the / key might be faster than using “Rebeam to Time Signature…”.
