Put one line in verse one, and the other in verse two.
If I misunderstand the problem, post a picture that shows what you want to do.

In this case it might be simpler to notate all the notes in one staff, and then move some of the notes to the other staff, as cross-staff notes.
To do so you can use the plug-in Cross Staff which has a convenient keyboard shortcut:
Selection Tool.
Drag-select the region you want to move.
Hold down the correct modifier key (Alt or Ctrl - I am not sure), and hit the UpArrow key or the DownArrow key.
You will have to add some rests (e. g. in another layer), and hide some of these rests (hit the letter H key).

I would still use two verses. You could put them either below both staves, or, if you wanted them all between the staves, put one verse high and the other low.

Are the singers switching treble to bass in the middle of a word? Or is it one singer flipping between the treble and bass staves?

You could also attach the lyrics to notes in a hidden layer that does not play back.
Since the hidden layer does not play back, you do not have to worry about melody and melismas.
Just enter all the notes on the same pitch, with one note per syllable.

Don't be confused. I'm the one who can't expalin properly. Sorry about that.
When a Started writing the lyrics I noticed that I had to write part of it for the right hand and the other part for the left hand. But if one word starts in the right hand note and goes to the left hand note that's when I have trouble with the hyphen, because it won't flow as if the entire word was in the same staff.

That first example I posted worked because the rests on the treble staff had the same value as the notes in the bass staff. What if the Bass staff had 8th notes (as in the example I attached) instead? How to proceed?

Both the solutions I suggested, would work:
1) Notate all the notes in one staff, and then move some of the notes to the other staff, as cross-staff notes.
You will have to add some rests (e. g. in another layer), and hide some of these rests (hit the letter H key).
2) Attach the lyrics to notes in a hidden layer that does not play back.
