staff style not in parts
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
hi guys!
i'm using finale 2012b on a mac
i have a score, in it there's staves that use 'slash notation', but when i go to the parts, the measures that are supposed to be on slash notation are actually in normal notation with rests in them, i've tried generating parts again but i have the same result... any way to correct this? thanks

1) There is a free Finale 2012c maintenance update on MakeMusic’s web site.
2) For your staff style problem, try this:
Staff Tool.
Select the region that should have the Slash Notation staff style in both score and part (this selection may be easier to do while viewing the score).
Then go to
Staff menu > Apply Staff Style To > Score and Parts…
In the dialog box Apply Staff Style, select the Slash Notation staff style, and click OK.
If that does not work for you, then we might need to examine an actual Finale document.
If 2) does not work for you, then I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale sample document here.
This forum does not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.
Before you can attach a .mus document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.

Mac OS X 12.6.9 (Monterey), Finale user since 1996
several years later, Finale 25... and this is still an issue??
In my case SOME of the same staff style transfer, some not.
And no, chasing them in the general score and choosing "Apply staff style to..." is not a solution, it's easier to reaply them in parts.
any ideas?
Alex

This is a very old bug, dating back to the first version of Finale that had linked parts, 2007.
In the score, select the Staff Tool. Select All (command A on my Mac, probably control A on a PC). From the Staff Menu select "Use selected staff styles for parts and score". You will probably have to create multi measure rests in all parts after doing this, which you can do in one operation.
I suggest doing this after you have finished formatting the score, and just BEFORE you start to format parts. There may be some Staff Styles that you want in the parts and not in the score, and my proposed solution will erase those unless you do things in the correct order.
