Hello everyone,
I have Finale 2014 on a pc.
The issue is very small but critical because I am designing something for my students
When using the chord tool and I try to input a CbMaj7 chord and press "enter" , finale switches it to the enharmonic spelling (B-natural).
For the exercise I formatting, it is important that it says C-flat.
The funny thing is that of the chords I have tried to input it is only Cb as the root that gives me trouble. I tried messing with the "Enharmonic Spelling" settings (there is only like 4 different ones). I was going to just leave the measure with that chord without a symbol. So i can just pencil it in once I print it. But I refuse to give up as I would not be surprised that there is a simple solution. Also it would look unprofessional .

Any help, suggestions, comments are appreciated.
Thanks Much :D

Welcome to the forum!

Fortunately there is a simple (but weird) solution:
Enter the Cb as a Dbbb.
Then Finale will change the Dbbb to a Cb.
There are no known problems with this solution (except that it feels weird).

Explanation:
The culprit is a setting in the Chord Tool:
Chord menu > Simplify Spelling

You could de-select “Simplify Spelling”, but then you may get some other problems - with Capo Chords.
Mac OS X 12.6.9 (Monterey), Finale user since 1996
