Good evening,
Can anybody tell me how I can make Finale 2014 fill empty bars in 4/2 with breves rests instead of semi breves.
Help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

Having breve rests as default whole measure rests is a document specific setting (= saved in the document):

Document menu > Document Options > Notes & Rests > Rest Characters > Default Measure Rest
Click the button “Select…”
In the dialog box Symbol Selection, select character #227.

Thanks for this. I tried this, but it does not actually change the rests in the score. I did click 'apply'.

It works for me.

I think that we need to see an actual Finale document from you.

This forum does not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.

Before you can attach a Finale document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.
