Hi all. After entering C%7 using the chord tool, the computer displays the fully diminished chord symbol. How can I fix this? I'm using the lead sheet template if that helps in Finale 2014.5 on a mac. Thanks!

I guess Broadway Copyist Text Font doesn't have the O with slash symbol? Is that the issue?

It's in the Broadway Copyist font at option-o, according to the help files, but not in the Broadway Copyist Text font.

Welcome to the forum!

If I understand you correctly, you are having problems with entering the chord suffix ø7, right?

Actually, the ø symbol is present, both in the Chord Suffix Selection, and in the Broadway Copyist Text Extended font (not in the Broadway Copyist Text font!).

The reason why your keyboard shortcut % does not work, is that the ø symbol in the Broadway Copyist Text Extended font is not located in character slot #191, but rather in slot #124.

Two solutions:

1) Edit the half-diminished chord suffix:
Change the ø symbol’s font from Broadway Copyist Text Extended 16 to Broadway Copyist 24, and use the ø symbol from
Broadway Copyist 24 (which is located in slot #191).
The ø symbol in the Broadway Copyist font looks different from the ø symbol in the Broadway Copyist Text Extended font, and you will have to adjust the Vertical position to 12pt.
(You may also prefer to adjust the Horizontal position of the 7 to something like 9pt)
But now your keyboard shortcut % will work.

2) Learn to use the colon shortcuts.
The first time you do this, type C:0, and hit Enter.
Finale will display the Chord Suffix Selection.
Scroll down to the suffix you need.
You will find that the ø7 suffix is #154 in the Chord Suffix Selection.
Remember that number.
The next time, just type C:154 and voila!
