When I construct sheet music for piano, I often have to give the bass and treble clefs different midi channels so that I can change the playback volumes independently with the mixer. Otherwise the bass clef volume is too loud with respect to the treble clef volume. However, when I split the bass and treble clefs, the existing dynamic markings will only apply to either the bass or treble clef, but not both. Is there a way to have the dynamic markings apply to both clefs, short of having to mark each clef separately?

Thank You...

You can do it with a custom expression category of the ”Score List” type.

To create a custom “Score List” category, duplicate an existing “Score List” category, e. g. the category Rehearsal Marks.

In the Score List, select all staves in the linked parts. *)
See the attached Finale document where I have created the expression category “Dynamics (shared)”.

*) Yes, it sounds crazy that a setting for the linked parts should affect playback in the score, but that is “just one of those things”.

Thanks Peter,

I have no idea what I am doing, but it worked.
