I recently updated my OS, and have discovered some major issues in it compatibility with Finale 2012. I realize this is old news (to everyone but me, as usual), but I have yet to see any sort of clear answer to these two problems I've discovered so far.
The playback-crashing is the first one; I know it can staved off by shutting off Human Playback and also Simple Entry Playback, but this certainly not a sustainable model if I would want to use playback in the future. "Unhanded exception caught", etc
The second is the disappearance of slurs, crescendo markings, articulations and what have you immediately after the page is redrawn. Having just recently changed the OS (as of 3 days ago), I'm certain that this is the culprit, but again I found no real solution in the forums for my particular situation.
Has anyone been in this situation? Did upgrading to Finale 2014 fix these things? Are there any concrete solutions without upgrading? Thanks for your help

Yes, these issues are well known.

And yes, upgrading fixes them.

I suggest that you try the demo of the new Finale v25, and judge for yourself.

2014 is not compatible with 10.11.6.
2014.5 and the new v.25 are.
I still use 2012 on 10.11.6, but I never use Human Playback.

I upgraded to the newest version of Finale and there is no longer the playback issue; however, slurs and other smart-shapes CONTINUE to vanish after I redraw a page. Is this a common issue? Thanks ~MAR

Not that I've heard. You might want to send it in to tech support.

I just have, and await their reply. It's absolutely bizarre; only about 7 measures in the entire piece are behaving like this. They're spread out with 5 on one page, and 2 on the other. When I put smart shapes in THOSE measures, they have handles only for a moment, then they disappear (the handles). When I redraw the page, the smart shape simply vanishes as though it had never existed. The measures surrounding these 7 are completely NORMAL, and the smart shape tool registers that there are smart shapes in those (with the appearance of the handles etc). I've never seen anything like it.

Just for fun, copy everything to a new document. Sometimes, this eliminates the weirds.

Unfortunately, I came across the same issue.
