I'm using version 25 (Windows).

I like my lyric syllables to be centered (vertically) with the notes, so in "Document Options/Lyrics/Syllable Positioning" I have set all Alignment and Justification to "Center".

However, in virtually every chart I'm editing, there are always a few syllables that align to the right. I have to manually scoot them to the left.

I'm not talking about note collisions. I understand that those syllables have to be manually scooted, though it would be nice to have a setting to accommodate that.

Strangely, this right alignment problem is most common when a syllable is linked to an eighth note which is tied to a following note and it only happens if the lyrics are between two staves. Lyrics that are above the upper staff or below the lower staff always stay centered.

Is there a way to make sure all syllables stay centered with the notes?

Also, when I manually scoot syllables, whether they were right aligned by the glitch mentioned above, or by note collisions, they tend to revert back to their original positions the next time I edit the file and I have to scoot them all over again.

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately I am not (yet) using Finale v25.

I suggest that you also ask in the two forums on MakeMusic’s web site.

Read this thread for instructions on, how to get there:

Thank you!

In case it makes a difference, I also had this problem with version 2012c.

If you attach a (small) Finale 2012 sample document here, then I can take a look at it.

This forum does not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.

Before you can attach a Finale document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.
