Hello,

With multiple verse lyrics that commence in a 1st time bar, is it possible to have the verse number display in the 1st time bar itself as well as on the repeat? It only shows at the start of the repeated section but perhaps I have missed something.

Thanks for any help.

I would use the Expression Tool to add the number in the 1st ending.

You can create a new, custom expression category solely for verse number(s), and set up the category so that the number automatically displays with the correct font, size, and positioning.

Thank you, Peter. That is a good solution.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I saw a similar question on "that other forum" (in which I do not participate due to my boycotting of the ineptness of its format), and needed to mention that there is a way to get lyric verse numbers without using expressions (at least in most cases).

Aside from the old way we used to do it before the feature was added (by combining the number followed by a hard space and then the syllable), the new feature has a built-in method. Right click on the handle for the syllable, and choose the option from the context menu to show the lyric verse number. This can be done for every syllable in the lyric, if needed.

I noticed Peter Thomsen had advised the user on the other forum to create expressions for this. I think the built-in method might be easier. I can't say for every situation, but worth a try.

Thanks for the notification, Zuill - I had not seen that menu item.

Duly noted for future reference - and posted in “that other forum”.

Is reading the other forum worth my time, do you think? I haven't looked since the old days, when it was pretty dead.

I occasionally look over there to see if there are any announcements, or anything that I need to know about what's going on. It's also good for a laugh now and then. I don't post there. The whole setup is somewhat cumbersome, and it is visually anemic, so it doesn't interest me much.
