Midi Time Discrepancy

Postby Carlspost1 » Mon Dec 19, 2016 4:05 am

I have a strange thing happening with midi files and their duration.

For example, I open up a midi file with a known duration of 6:46:873

When I view time markings using the "measure number Style' option, the length of the file seems about 8 seconds too short. (see image)

However, if I then export the file as a new midi file, the resulting midi is suddenly back to the original length of 6:46:873

I have tried tweaking the midi import options (ie ticking tempo changes etc) but it doesn't seem to help.

I must be missing something.. but am not sure what..

I hope there is a simple solution. :?:
Thank you.

I'm not much on playback issues, but if I recall correctly, this sort of thing is attributable to human playback. The slight variations it adds to the file causes the differences.
