Hello all,

I'm trying to position some tremolo marks under a snare drum roll that continues across a few bars. Does anyone know how I can set up a three slash trem sign to automatically position itself under the notehead? I tried 'Centre Horizontally' in Positioning Options but it seemed to have no effect. Have attached a screenshot to demonstrate.

Cheers

One way to centre them: if you're in F 25 open the file in F 2014.5, select the region and apply the JW Yada Yada Tremolo plugin.

(Let's hope the JW plugins are soon all available for F 25 on Mac, until then I'm sticking to 2014.5.)

I believe another way to accomplish that would be to duplicate and then edit the tremolo articulation. Open the articulation screen, select the tremolo symbol, click the "duplicate" button. Select the duplicated symbol and press "edit." Make the changes you want, but then click the "handle positioning" and change the "H" (horizontal) offsets to zero. That seems to change the centering of the symbol from the stem to centered on the notehead. To program the new articulation as a metatool select the articulation tool and then press "shift" plus the letter or number keyboard key you want to use to trigger the automatic placement; then press "select" to complete. When the articulation tool is selected, pressing the programmed key and clicking the note will automatically place the tremolo symbol centered on the notehead.

You can also press the programmed key on the computer keyboard, and drag across the staff.
The advantages of dragging are
- You do not have to click precisely on the note.
- You can add the articulation to multiple notes “in one go”.

Like heinzfan, I created a separate articulation for whole notes. Strangely, you need to use "note side" even though it goes on the side where the stem would be if it were a half note! Though JW Yaddah is useful, I mostly don't need it (I've altered the other tremolos as well).

This has probably already been pointed out elsewhere and doesn't solve the problem of centering a tremolo above or below a whole note. To add to Motet's point, if you go through the motions of flipping a whole note's stem direction (even though there's no stem visible) the tremolo will then appear on the correct side of the whole note. But I really like the JW YadaYada plugin. It has save me lots of time.
