Yes, I think I would too. Normally I would say nr 3, but as my example involves lyrics I am not so sure...
Nr 1 saves some space too.

Absolutely No.1. That's where the musician would expect the items to be.

… but maybe not a singer. Usually dynamics, expressions &c are placed above a vocal stave, the libretto (lyrics) go below. It's not an absolute rule, but it IS where a singer would usually expect to find such things. In this case, I'm not altogether sure of the best of the three options shown, it depends …

#1 looks OK, but imagine if the notes were upstem and the pitches near or on the bottom of the staff. With that in mind, I'd vote for #3.

In this particular case I will go for nr 1 because it will take a bit less space. The page in question is a bit crammed and the layout will benefit from the extra space. Good to hear from your answers that it is not a clear cut case.

The diamond symbol <> by the way is created as an expression using the Emmentaler font.
