Test me if you can.rar
Sample file using MM template- has same issues

Out of the blue, the expression tool has decided to crash my Finale 2014.5 application each and every time I try and invoke it.

It happened whilst I was editing a new score for "lara's Theme", to be used as a demo. I did not even use my normal orchestra template (which has worked for years), but created a new one based on Jarre's original score. The project worked well for three days, then today, something went pear-shaped.

Just the expression tool, none of the other tools on that bar (articulation, smart shape, tuplet and the rest) all do their jobs without complaint, but the expression tool sends Finale immediately into crashed mode, with an error box telling me so and asking if I want to send the error off to MM for further examination. And if I say yes, even that errors out and won't send... odd.

It happens in new music, old music created in 2014.5, even in older music imported into 2014.5 from earlier versions.

I've rebooted Finale- same issue
Re-booted the desktop- no help.
Cold-booted the desktop- same problem.

Something (perhaps a dll?) has gone awry- any ideas where I should start looking??

Thanks!

Maybe you need to renew the preferences file. Backup the old one if this is not the issue, so you can re-use it to save having to set all your preferences. if the problem is solved, then you will have to set all of your preferences from scratch, but the crashing will be fixed.

Yes. In Roaming/MakeMusic/Finale2014.5. Try the FINALE.INI file first. With Finale closed, move it to another location for backup, and when Finale reopens, it will recreate the file. You'll need to reset your preferences.

Seems to have worked! Thanks, Zuill! And because I don't have a lot of customization in the workspace, I'll just move things around as and when I need 'em. No problems
