I have the latest version ( Finale 25.2) but it seems to be gone. All my finale files have regressed to Finale 2014.5. What do I do to get back Finale 25.2?

Are you sure? The file assignment might just have been changed to open .musx files with 2014.5. Are you opening files from the folder?

Zuill

P.S.: Since you're on Mac, the details I described might be a bit different.

The app itself is missing? Have you looked in the applications folder? Done a spotlight search? Checked your Time Machine backup?

I doubt that your Finale 25 has just disappeared. As Zuill suggests, a file may open with a specific version by default (2014.5 for instance), instead of 25.
On the Mac, you could place a copy of Finale 25 in the dock (drag its icon from the Applications folder into the dock) and launch it from there.
You can also drag a Finale document on that icon.
Finally, you can select a file, right-click (Ctrl-clic on the Mac) on its icon and select the version of Finale that should open it.

BTW, this is not a "Hardware issue" ...

Let me guess:
You usually launch Finale by opening a Finale .musx document, right?
And your Mac OS X then launches Finale 2014.5 (instead of Finale v25), right?

When there are several versions of a program installed, Mac OS X will launch the version it thinks is the latest version = the version with the highest version number.
And since 2014.5 is a higher number than 25, …

Workaround:
First launch Finale v25, then open the Finale .musx document.
Then Mac OS X will open the document in Finale v25, since v25 is running (and 2014.5 is not running).

Thanks for all the ideas.

I've been able to get Finale 25.2 to open. but only if I right click on the file and choose open with "Finale.app".

What do I do so that the files will always open only with 25.2?

This may seem simple to you guys, but it is confusing to me. I teach piano and have 1,300 Finale files that I have created and they are all now only opening in Finale 2014.5. Very frustrating. How do I get rid of (and should I get rid of) Finale 2014.5?

Thanks for all your help. Phone support is now gone!!!

In the Finder, Get Info on a .musx file, and change the application to "Finale". Then click "Change All".

You will also find that only Finale 2014 is in Launchpad. You can of course delete the 2014.5 app, but it still has uses, if you uses older plug-ins that have not been updated.

Very strangely I haven't been able to make this stick. The only way I can get files to open in Finale 25.2 is to open the program first and keep it running. If I do this, double-clicking files from the Finder will then open them in 25.2.
