Go to Plugins > Note Beam and Rest Editing > Patterson Plugins Lite and select Patterson Beams. The plugin calls these "French Beams". Set the option in the plugin window, uncheck other options you might not want, and run the plugin. I'd suggest you do this after all music has been entered and the pages laid out so you can proof the action of the plugin.
