Creating ornament symbol to insert in written text...

Postby Florio60 » Tue Jan 10, 2017 9:53 am

In a musicological essay I'm preparing, I need to insert some symbols for 18th century ornaments. I've managed to find most of these in Bravura Text font, but I still need a trilled turn (prallender Doppelschlag), which consists of the normal turn or gruppetto symbol (Shift-T, Maestro font) above the mordent or trill extension symbol (Alt + 0181, Maestro font). It's easy to insert a trilled turn into a Finale document, but I don't need a single symbol to do so.

Does anyone know how I could create this combined symbol to insert in a Word document?

Florio.

Very interesting. The trilled turn is not present in Bravura? You might alert SMuFL to that fact. If it is not in Bravura, one wonders if it is available anywhere.

All else failing, perhaps you could create a graphic in FInale and import that into Word. I once used a macro that could stack glyphs in InDesign for such problems but don't know of anything like that for Word.

Do any of the suggestions here http://www.finaleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14547 for offsetting text in MS Word help?
