This is a terrible bug that MakeMusic is either unable or unwilling to fix. Since you saved the file you're probably OK. Quit and restart Finale, go to Preferences and set Temporary Files to some other directory that you create (say, My Documents\Finaletemp). You'll need to clean this directory out once in a while since MakeMusic is either unable or unwilling to manage temporary files correctly. But it will probably fix the problem you're having.

Whoever can remote to my computer and help me retrieve the file (and show me how to do it myself in the future), will get a monetary reward via Western Union.

Thanks everybody in advance,

Lola

Open the C drive in Windows Explorer and type your file name in the search box.

:?: Just curious. This topic now has a green circle with a check. I understand this means the issue has been solved.

If this is indeed the case, what did Lola do to resolve the issue?

Seems far from solved. Sometimes I am confused by features of this forum.

I have removed the green check mark icon.

I do not know how it got there in the first place.
Perhaps the Original Poster (= Smolokowski) clicked it by mistake?

I've searched for that option on a thread I started and cannot find such an option.

I'm not sure marking something solved is particularly useful. Does it mean the topic is not worth reading? Does it mean that there's no more advice or ideas to be given? No and no. I guess if someone later comes along with a similar problem and sees that the problem was solved that might be attractive, but they'd probably do well to read unsolved topics on the subject as well.

I have not checked "solved" option, and issue is far from solved.
Working on it though.
My offer to help me solve it by remoting to my machine (via TeamView for example) for a monetary reward still stands.

Thank you everybody.

Hi, is anyone here? Can anybody help me in real time? I am working on the issue but afraid to take steps by fear of making it worse. Please help

Actually, it's the last such folder, "Temporary Files," that's usually implicated in the problem you describe. I'm not sure Backup and Autosave are implicated.

Did you look for your file with Windows search as suggested.

Hello dear Ronald, thank you for your input.

I did all this and its not working, that's why I was hoping someone can do it with me in real time, instead of waiting for an answer here then writing back and it all takes ages ---

I understand people are very busy, especially on Sunday, which is why I am happy to offer a monetary reward for helping me to resolve this quickly....

Thank you for all help again,

Lola

Fix "Temporary Files" as I say and try again. If that doesn't work, tell us exactly what you're doing that leads to the problem.

Any chance that you have both 2014 and another version installed such as 2014.5?

You may have more than one Preferences file and are looking in the wrong place.

Also, if one wants someone to log on to ones computer, one should be careful who is doing that. Much damage can be done if it is the wrong person. Call MM support for that.

Let me guess. They had a distinct Indian accent, yet their name was Steve, or Bill, or John.

I get those calls daily. It strikes me as odd that our great intelligence agencies, who can read a license plate from a satellite, can't figure out a way to stop this sort of garbage.

These annoying and intrusive telephone calls are just as much a problem here in Scotland too. It's more or less a world-wide problem, it would seem.

BTW (and more and more OT), your use of the description 'East Indian' intrigues me. I presume you are not referring to someone from Indonesia, which in my youth used to be referred to as the 'East Indies', but to the accent of somebody from the country of India. I noticed this, as both my great-grandfather https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Wolstenholme_Ward and my father were born in India in the days of, and as part of, the British Raj. My elder brother spent time in India both as a small child and later as a British officer with the Brigade of Gurkhas, but I have only ever landed in the country briefly in transit.

I would definitely associate the accent with the Raj.

I do wish he would explain exactly what he is doing and what exactly is happening, as the fix he has been given is an established one that has worked in every other case of this I have encountered in the old MM forum.
I suspect Lola is a she, but yes, the fix seems straight-forward. Your picture didn't include the Temporary Files directory, though, which I think is the real culprit.
