download only garritan
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
To save space on my computer I never installed Garritan. Now I want to do it but simply I cannot find my DVD.
When I go to my account at MM, there are "products" but nothing available to download. That is strange.
I need 32 bit version, since I am now on Win 7, 32 bit.

I suppose that you by your words “go to” mean “log in to”, right?OCTO wrote:… When I go to my account at MM …
When I am in my own account, I can click the button MY SOFTWARE which gives me a list of all the products I can download, including the Finale 2014.5 installer.
Do you not have that option?

Yes, I had this. I'd not bothered with GIFF until after I'd installed F 2014 without it. So when I decided to have GIFF after all, I had to log in to my account at MM, re-download the F 2014 installer and select only GIFF. From then on it installed in the right place with ease.

Yea, the installer file has two installers. Assuming the OP profile is correct (is it?), the first one is for Finale 2014.5 and the second is for Garritan/Aria. Both must be run in order to install. There is no separate installer for GIFF.
2014.5 is 32bit/Universal.

Sorry, I haven't been looking at the full list.
I need to install on my older Windows machine running XP and Finale 2011. Here what it shows for me: I would prefer using 2011 on that machine, and not 2014. It is to heavy.
But maybe Garritan for 2014 will work for 2011?

When you update a license, the older versions are no longer available for download.OCTO wrote:Sorry, I haven't been looking at the full list.

The 2011 b (Win) and c (Mac) updates are still available for download—I found them recently but don't remember if they had GIFF installers.
I don't know if the 2014 Garritan libraries can be accessed from 2011 -- it can't hurt to try. If it doesn't, I can make the 2011 installer available through Dropbox easily enough. It doesn't contain the libraries, btw, instead it opens a link during the install that downloads them from MM, same as the 2014.5 installer. Back channel me if you need it with your email address.
The MM license server knows which versions you can authorize. In my case, it knows that one of my licenses can run 2011 and 25 while the other can run 2014/2014.5. Neither will authorize 2012 (not that I will ever need).

I didn't want to experiment, and mess with the installation, but wanted to be sure it will work.Ronald J Brown wrote:The GiFF libraries that come with different versions of Finale had different samples, but, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Run the F 2014 installer and select only the Garritan option and see what happens. What can it hurt to try?
Thanks. I will be back, I will contact now MM to see if they can help in the first place.MikeHalloran wrote:I don't know if the 2014 Garritan libraries can be accessed from 2011 -- it can't hurt to try. I see. But perhaps they store files somewhere?zuill wrote:I don't think 2011 was ever available for download. In those days, it only came on a DVD.

I have the DVD, only the case. Stupid me.

OK, I will try now. I didn't want to install somehting that is not officially added to an older product. I am thinking about that new Garritan would leave some traces if I need to re-install the old one. I am just moving from OS X to Windows for a project.Ronald J Brown wrote:I recall people in the past trying to get old versions from MM and being told that none were available. It doesn't hurt to ask though.
I am puzzled as to why you don;t want to try installing GiFF from Finale 2014. In what way will it mess up your system if it doesn't work? They are only sound files that you can delete if you don't want them.
