Best way to add expressions seen in score, hidden in parts?

What is the simplest and quickest way to add expressions to a score that will be hidden in the parts? Is it while remaining in the score: hide, unlink to parts, then show? Or is there an even simpler way with a modifier key? (I plan rather a lot of these expressions.)
Additional information (ignore if rushed):
I have staves named Perc. 1 and Perc. 2 for most of the score (which is in 12 Finale files). When tuned percussion is used, I have Staff Styles that change the staves to the appropriate names, eg Glock., Xyl. &c. However, for basic battery on single line staves, the abbreviated stave names are Perc. 1, Perc. 2 etc. To this I'd like to add an expression that shows only in the score at the beginning of the system above the stave itself, and immediately after the percussion clef (& after any time signature) showing SD, BD, or Tam-Tam &c whenever such an instrument is continuing from the preceding system. Actual instrument changes will be labelled where they occur in both score and parts.
In the score in question, which has an idiosyncratic string line-up (13 solo strings, with optional desk partners in section unison tuttis), I'd find it useful to place 'tutti' above certain string staves at the beginning of some systems in the score only. As with the percussion, the direction will appear in both score and parts when the change begins.

The way I do it:David Ward wrote:What is the simplest and quickest way to add expressions to a score that will be hidden in the parts?
√ Enter Expression
√ Right Click on Handle, choose Edit Expression Assignment
√ Choose "Show on - Score Only"
If you have macro software, this is an ideal candidate.

If it is about the instrument names.
Create a staff style for that purpose and edit carefully the names, and position. Another way is to create a Smart Shape line with text name and drag over the whole section of that instrument. Than hide in parts only once.
P.S. Sorry Tam-tam for being in Trouble-clef.

Thanks, OCTO. An advantage I can see with the Staff Style is that it will move as required if the system layout is changed/edited.OCTO wrote:… …Create a staff style for that purpose and edit carefully the names, and position… …
I think I may choose Staff Style for the most commonly used battery in the 12 files of the piece (at the very least for SD, BD and Tam-Tam) but perhaps choose an expression for percussion used only occasionally. There's a lot of tidying up still to do on this score, which a pro-engraver would sail through with ease (unlike me).

Yes, both the Staff Style solution AND Smart Shape solution will follow the layout.David Ward wrote:An advantage I can see with the Staff Style is that it will move as required if the system layout is changed/edited.

Yes indeed. After various experiments, the Smart Shape solution seems best of all for my purposes and is the one I've decided to use.OCTO wrote:David Ward wrote:… … AND Smart Shape solution will follow the layout.

Great to hear.
I have also used that option in my scores. Don't forget that you have to use just ONE smart shape that covers entire instrument (from the beginning to the end of a particular instrument), so that the line will always display (and display correctly)
