Hi there,
After reading a blogpost about using "old" templates I decided to create new ones.
I use Finale 25.2 on a Mac with OSX El Capitan (10.11.6) and with 8 Gb internal memory. I started with the Maestro Default Font file that comes with Finale 25 and created 4 templates until now.
All work well except the one I created for a large windband. I can open the other templates as template and create music. But when I open the large windband template (as a template) then Finale crashes when I press "Finish" on the second screen of the document setup wizard. But when I open this template as a normal file nothing goes wrong.
Is there a limit to the number of staves the setup wizard can handle (this template/file contains 54 staves)
Greetings,
template

I was able to open your file as a template with Finale 2014.5 with no problems. As a first step towards troubleshooting the file, open a copy of it normally in your version of Finale and export as XML. Import this XML into Finale and save the resulting file. Does this file behave any differently when opened as a template?

Sounds like a bug. Do you really need to go through the New Document wizard in this case? It fills in a few things and sets an initial key or time signature, but is otherwise not all that useful in my opinion.

Hi all you out there,
@ N Grossingink: While in the process of following your suggestion I discovered what went wrong. I saved the original file with a Staff-set showing and not alle staves. After saving the file as XML, I also saved it again as a normal musx file but now with all files showing. When I now start with this file as template there are no more problems.
@ motet: Indeed, going through the "template-process" is not neccesary. I don't know wether this could be considered a bug, but I know now what went wrong as you can read.
Thanks for your reactions
