Hi all,

I'd like to ask, if anybody here has ever put this score into Finale (or Sibelius or another notation app). I would be very interested.

Thanks much,
Stefan

I sincerely doubt that this work exists in digital format, at least in its complete form.

What is it that you want? The actual Finale files or a printed score where you could study the engraving? A little more information might help others suggest some options. Right now, your question sounds a little like a pipe dream.

There was some idiot near me that decided he could perform the entire ring cycle karaoke style. It received a lot of negative attention nationwide, so you might find him if you google "Wagner + Ring Cycle + Hartford".

I believe he used Finale, so maybe he would sell you the file(s).

I don't know why but that nearly caused me to fall off my chair.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Der Ring—my tax returns are going to pay for our tickets to the next SFO production. Heck, I've sung Wotan and played in the pit for Siegfried. Das Rheingold may be my favorite. But putting it into Finale? Yikes!

You can always make one yourself. I would think that scanning this or the Dover into SmartScore X2 Pro would save a few hundred hours.

You're probably into it a couple hundred more hours... I wouldn't think of doing this in SS Lite.

Hmmm... probably need a tabloid sized scanner, around $200,

SS X2 Pro another two bills... The time savings is probably worth it, though.

Thanks much RMK, excellent hint! Interesting project, there is a lot more on this on the net.

Also thanks Mike! With scanning, I tried it several times (on Sibelius with Photoscore) and always had to correct so much afterwards that it didn't make sense really. Do you have good experiences with Finale and SmartScore X2 Pro?

I have pretty good success with SmartScore X Pro, but a lot of it will depend on the quality and complexity of the original. Still, expect to spend time editing.

I suspect getting Dan Rheingold into Finale would be a monumental task, even with scanning.

Besides, Dan might break the scanner bed.

There are 2 scores at musescore, that you can download as musicxml (perhaps free account required)

MusScore doesn't export to MusicXML as cleanly as anyone would like. Still it's useful to try and see what happens.
