I've just upgraded from Finale 2012 to 25. In all the previous iterations of Finale I've owned I was able to edit lyrics in the lyrics window, and this edit was reflected in the score window. In 25, I'm able to edit lyrics in the lyrics window (it seems at first), but nothing happens in the score window. Eventually, after clicking back and forth between windows, the edits in the lyrics window I made magically disappear and everything returns to the way it was.

I always use click assignment to assign lyrics to notes. I'm working in layer 1 and only one verse (not multiple verses).

I assume it's a simple fix, but I have no idea. Any suggestions?

I use v25 and have no problem editing in the Lyrics Window. Maybe we need a sample file with more details.

Usually in the lyrics window when I have to edit something it's adding hyphens, to a lesser extent adding words. In previous versions of Finale, when I would have to hyphenate a word in the lyrics window, I would simply add the hyphen and the word in the score window immediately reflected this edit, i.e. the word in the score window was hyphenated as well. In Finale 25, when I hyphenate a word, this is not reflected in the score window, and after clicking on the score window, the edits in the lyrics window default to the original.

I'm using the same templates as I was for previous iterations of Finale. So, I don't think it's the template, but some sort of setting that I don't know about. Of course, I could be wrong though.

Sample file attached. Thanks for your help.

Whenever this kind of behavior occurs on only one system, it might be corrupt preferences. Back up the preferences file and try recreating it. Might be that simple.
