Can anybody tell me how I can increase the speed of tremolo rolls? Or create realistic sounding marimba rolls instead of pathetic 8th notes? I searched and searched and searched through the "manual" and I played around with so many settings...Finale has only been installed for a few hours and I'm ready to tear my hair out...

Use more beams on the tremolos?

I'm already using the 3 beam setup, and it's still the clunky 8th note sound.

We might need to see a sample file.

I made a marimba roll, and it sounds OK to me (attached--try it). If you would attach your file we might be able to answer.

If you're new to Finale, perhaps there's something you're not understanding.

What is set in HP Preferences might be at play. In that case, unless the preferences are attached to the file, playback would be different on the OP's system. I have the default of 12 notes per second. Possibly the OP has a smaller number.

How would I go about altering this to give me control over the roll speed?

12 per second....it works when I'm just rolling on one note, but I want to roll between two notes in the treble clef and the bass clef, not just one note.

Here is my file. The marimba roll in measure 6 is what I'm struggling with getting to sound right.

You'd think with that notation, though, it should roll the chord (a real player could perhaps do this with two mallets in each hand). The playback is indeed strange.

But if you want it alternating between two notes, the notation Ron shows is the correct one. Enter the two notes at half the desired value (quarter notes in this case) and apply the TGTools/Tremolos plug-in.
