Hi,

I think I read something about this but the other way around, but I can't find the thread.

My case: Whatever I try to make 2014.5 open by default, Finale 25 always take priority. So whenever I click on a musx file F25 will open. I want to stay on 2014.5, but it seems a bit unnecessary to uninstall F25, maybe one day I will move up.

What can I do to make 2014.5 open my files?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I think Ron found the standard Windows methods didn't work.

The OP is on Win 10. Many sites say that Windows 10 changed this.

The Default Apps setting is not exclusively new to Windows 10 but, much like many of the other Control Panel staples of previous versions, Microsoft has worked in an almost total rehaul of the old system in favor of something a little more streamlined and a lot more functional.

That article pretty much describes what I tried. These standard procedures unfortunately does not work. I'll try Nirsoft as soon as possible.

So, the program in question is FileTypesMan and I downloaded it from http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/file_types_manager.html
Problem solved, thanks for the tip.
I wonder why one has to resort to a third part utility to handle such a basic thing that Windows should be able to take care of with no exceptions. But of course, as we all know, that is also the case with another well known application... ;-)
