I have one measure in the snare drum/bass staff of a concert band score with a timpani roll (hidden notes) that I'm trying to erase, and no matter what I do, it remains. The piece has no timpani staff, and there are no stray timpani assignments to any staff or in the Aria player. I've muted every staff, except playing back each staff one by one to isolate the problem to the snare drum/bass drum staff. The hidden notes appear only in layer 1. But the hidden notes remain even when I erase layer 1. I've tried clearing that measure of midi data. I've tried erasing the snare drum/bass drum measure and rewriting it. I've tried inserting a new measure stack and copying everything to the new measure except the snare drum/bass drum measure, and then rewriting the snare drum/bass drum measure. Nothing I've done so far erases the phantom hidden timpani roll. Any suggestions?

These notes might actually be entered in a previous measure and have just been shoved to the right. Are you sure they're in layer 1? Set the view to "Show Active Layer Only" and cycle through the layers to confirm.

You're probably way ahead of me, but those are a few things that came to mind. I know, things like this can sometimes be hard to track down. You could just attach one page of the score that contains the mystery notes.

Also look to see if the notes are in Voice 2. That is another method used to add playback notes.

Isn't there a "clear HP data" plug-in?

It's part of the Apply HP feature, down near the bottom.

This was the problem. So easy yet so baffling! When I erased the previous measure, the hidden notes disappeared. Problem solved! Thanks, Zuill, Motet, and N!
