I use Finale 2011. I remember being able to write more notes within a bar than what the time signature denotes (this was useful for entering tuplets, and meant I didn't have to keep changing the time signature to fit all the notes in, then change it back). However since installing it again, I can't find what box to tick/untick, and I'm not sure exactly where I might find help regarding this in the manual.

Thanks for any advice!

Are you entering the notes with Simple or Speedy?

Then under the Speedy menu uncheck Jump to Next Measure.

Sorry, I meant simple, absent-mindedly wrote speedy. Never mind, found the menus. Overlooked them this whole time. Thanks!

Most types of triplets can be entered in Speedy Entry (and Simple Entry) without having to "break the bounds" of the meter.
