I'm having trouble adding grace notes to a busy measure. Using Simple Entry I can add one grace note, as an eighth or a sixteenth. I can add two as sixteenths. But if I need 3 or 4, the new grace note will form an interval or chord with an old one. Is there a way to create more space in the measure?

Use the handle on the barline (measure tool) to drag it over, and give you more room. Or, you could try zooming in, to make the placement a little more precise.

It's just an artifact of Simple entry. I don't know that you want to increase the measure width. If you enter a couple of grace notes and then leave the measure and respace (automatically?) you should be able to come back and enter more. Or, use QWERTY entry instead of the mouse.

I actually did try moving the carline, but that made no difference in the distance between notes where grace notes were needed. I've been experimenting with QWERTY, which I don't usually use, and I'm thinking that's the way to go.

Looks like I was wrong about respacing in between helping with mousing, but I think you'll be happy getting used to QWERTY anyway. It should be a big timesaver for you in general, and well worth the effort.

I'll agree with Motet. Use QWERTY to enter the notes, and you can have as many grace notes as you want.

Another solution is to temporarily isolate the measure on its own system. Usually that will space out the notes, making it easy to insert additional notes (grace or regular).
