Can anyone open this file? I have nothing older than 2010 on this computer, and it won't do it.

I will take MUS, MUSX, XML, or PDF!

This is trying to open Encore. MusicTime was Passport's simplest version — think Songwriter — anyway, it used to use the .mus extension a long time ago before Finale.

I'm sure that I can get it to open in Encore 4.5.5 if a MusicTime file and convert it to 5.0.5, then convert to 5.0.7 on my iMac. If no lyrics, I can export to Finale through .xml. If not, I have Finale 1998, 2002 and 2003. All of these need me to fire up my G4.

I'm pressed for time and won't be able to look at it till tomorrow. No matter what it is, I'm reasonably confident that I can do it.

I couldn't open it in the Encore demo, so Motet is most likely correct.

Thanks!

I opened it in ResEdit. No resource fork. Not even enough of a clue to figure out what app might have created it.

While I was in OS 9, I finally converted all the rest of my Music Time 1 and DMCS files — been meaning to do that for a very long time, now. Encore 5.0.7 opens MT 2 and later but not 1. I use Opcode Musicshop 2.5 to open DMCS and export the MIDI.
