Hello my friends. I need help with something, I write harmony exercises in Finale and inputting roman numerals. What I want to know is if there is a way to automatically align the roman numerals under a note because I am doing it manually and it is time consuming. Thank you and be well.

Sfardaklas,

What tool are you using to input the roman numerals? - the Text Tool?

The roman numerals can be aligned under the notes if you use the Chord Tool, or the Expression Tool, or the Lyrics Tool.

You might find the Finale Numerics font useful.

What I do step-by-step is :
1. I load chord suffixes (figured base lib)
2. I press chord tool and then I select roman chord style. Then I double click under the bass note and input the chord I want (it prompts a little window & I select what to show, suffix etc)
3. Because this results in the numeral to appear in the middle between the 2 staves I drag it manually under the bass notes.

You can move all of the chords below the staff at once. When the chord tool is active, you will see four triangles at the left edge. If you grab the leftmost triangle and drag it down, all of the chords will move together. If you do this before you start entering, they will go there.

Also, it isn't necessary to use layers 3 and 4 in the bass staff. You can go back to 1 and 2. Each staff allows all four layers.

Use the triangles on the left (while in the Chord Tool) to globally change the baseline of your chords.
You can always reposition some chords to their default position : select them, and use the clear key (that's on the Mac).
