I'm on finale 2014 on windows and I'm trying to add an unusual chord. It's a D diminished flat 9 chord. D F Ab Cb Eb. But finale won't let me add it because it says it "can't find the suffix 'dim7b9'." How can I add this chord into my song?

You can create the suffix yourself, with the Chord Suffix Editor.

Is playback important?
In the Chord Suffix Editor you can click the button “Set Play…”, and define playback for your new chord suffix.

Or name it differently : F-7b5 over D (alternate bass, subtext). Quite unusual anyway.

Don't you also get the message: Do you want to add the Suffix to the Library?
Click Yes, and it's in, or you can edit it for spacing and size.
Works for me.

It also sounds better to me with D on top, Eb on the bottom.
I'd call it F half-diminished 13.
