Finale 2014 Windows. 7 64bit

These are the instrucrtions:
Go to Document>Select Default Fonts... lyrics>Set font... and make your change. After you have backed out of the dialogue boxes, the font will change to the new one. (This is true from 2008 forward. Previously, you could not change existing fonts in the lyrics.)

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. It does not work.

I've got a score and the font size is too large ( probably the Font )
I'm not having any luck at all trying the above procedure.

Thanks for any insight

WG

Once the lyrics are entered, you can't change them that way. Making the change in the Fonts selection is for BEFORE you enterr them.

In the lyric window, select all, and then go to the text menus to make the changes. At least, that's how Macs work, and I suspect that Windows is similar.

Or use the Miscellaneous plug-in, Change Fonts, which allows you to change Lyric fonts, or other specific elements, like Staff Names.

I believe it says so in Document Options > Fonts > Lyrics

I make “after the fact” lyric changes this way:
Select All in the Lyrics window
Go to the Text menu (which is there, even though you're in the lyrics tool) and choose Character Settings…
Make your changes in the next window, OK

I thought maybe you could pick Adjust Syllables, select all, and change the font in the Text pull-down that appears with the Lyrics tool, thus saving you from having to do it for multiple verses etc. in the lyrics window, but the Text pull-down seems to have no effect. In fact, Font... doesn't present you with the font dialog. Size and Style seemingly let you make a choice, but it has no effect. What is Text for?

It gives you these options for individual lyrics selected in the score, or groups of lyrics (or an entire verse) in the lyrics window.

But how are you selecting the lyric in the score? Or is this with "type into score," prior to typing?

With the Selection tool, double click on the lyric. This also puts you in the correct verse and layer.

Late to the game here, but another option is JW Change > Syllables > Font Size.

Syllables seems an odd spot to find that, but there you are.
