Hi. I have all the fingerings for BB-flat tuba, but would like to have it re-formatted in a 'periodic table' style (i.e., each row covers one octave). Drop me a note if interested.

Sorry, I just got here and it won't let me PM you.

That sounds deceptively simple for a $200 payday. I used to play euphonium so translating the fingerings wouldn't take much. Can you be more specific as to the formatting your looking for? Would it need pictures of the valves/keys being pushed down to correspond note to note?

Depending upon exactly what Tony wants, it's likely that such a fingering chart might be started in Finale and finished in a page layout program like InDesign or Illustrator. More information is needed to judge the amount of skills necessary for the job.

I'd just like to have this chart-

[google "Dr. Yutaka Kono" "tuba_fingering_4_valve"]

reformatted such that each row of staves progresses from A-sharp/B-flat to A. Note names would then be shown just once above the first stalf. Also, lowest octave on bottom stalf, highest octave on top stalf, etc.

OK, so using the Kono chart as a baseline:

Is what you want a chromatic scale, starting from the same A# that starts Kono's chart, up to the next A natural, on ONE line, with fingerings beneath?

Then the NEXT line would have the same notes, but an octave up?

This would create 4 lines worth of chromatic scales if I did my math correctly.

Keeping in mind that a chart like this would be used by young/inexperienced players, the notes that have enharmonic equivalents should not be displayed as chordal seconds, but as 2 separated whole notes. After all, such notation does not exist in most wind and brass music. This might be confusing and is a bit abstract.

I was merely thinking in simplifying, and saving space - “less is more”.

What version of Finale are you using? - Finale v25?

By The Way:
In the Finale document the text font is Palatino.
Do you have the Palatino font?
