Finale 2014.5 on a Mac Pro
I may be asking the impossible in 2014.5 but: can I have the Simple Entry Rests Palette ALWAYS visible? As in, no matter what other tool I might have open?
If, for example, I select, say,the Page Layout Tool...the Simple Entry NOTE palette remains visible, but the Rests Palette disappears until I click on either the Simple Entry Tool in the floating palette selector OR a note value in the Simple Entry note palette itself.
If I select ANY other tool...Lyrics Tool, Tuplet Tool, you name it, the Simple Entry note selection palette always remains open...but NOT the rests palette.
I'm just trying to eliminate the one extra mouse click every time I want to resume using the rests palette.
Am I just pining for the Old Days?
Thank you!

Yes. You set it in Preferences, then you have to use it and it will stay visible. Same for 25.
Preferences / Pallettes and Backgrounds / Show rests palette. OK.
If you open a document where Rests weren't showing, you still have to go up to Windows and check on Show Rests.... When you save your work and quit, it will be visible the next time you open the file.

Of course, if you really wanted to eliminate extra mouse clicks, you could just use the keyboard shortcut for inserting a rest. And you could assign a keyboard shortcut to the Simple Entry Tool itself. I don't think I've clicked on anything in the SimpleEntry palette since about 2009.glennhardy wrote:I'm just trying to eliminate the one extra mouse click every time I want to resume using the rests palette.

The only time I use the rest palette is when I want a real whole rest to show in a 3/4 measure when there are notes in another layer. Then, I use the SE Rest palette, and click in the rest with the mouse.
