When I set the copy filter to copy articulations and secondary beam breaks from measure 1 to 2 in the attached, it only copies some of the former and none of the latter, as you can see. What the heck? I have rebooted and reset preferences. Can someone check if it works for them? (.musx file is attached.)

I get the same result as you with Finale 2014.5, 25.3 and 2012 in a converted file.
Just for the heck of it, I tried Robert Patterson's "Mass Copy" plugin. It's an interface reminiscent of the old Finale "Mass Mover". Mass Copy did the job.

I think I've seen this before. Drag-Select one note into the next measure, press ctrl-C. Ten select the next measure and press ctrl-V.

This is weirder than I thought. In the following, I've copied left to right with the copy filter set for just articulations.
This is glaring! Why haven't I noticed it before. Well, I usually work with multiple staves. Add a staff below and try the copy on that staff:
Now it works correctly! Moreover, if I repeat the copy on the original, which is now the top staff, it now works there!
There apparently needs to be a triplet involved.

I can reproduce this. It doesn't matter which beat the tuplet is on. Very strange bug! Has anyone reported it to MM?

There's a plugin that gives the functionality of the old Mass Mover tool. I suspect that MM already knows about it. Still it should be submitted as a bug. Older versions could do it after all.
This goes to my pet peeve about Finale. This should not be an issue—but it is. Why are we dependent on three sets of 3rd party plugins to provide functionality that should be built into Finale? I can see it if the plugs provided cool tricks that saved time but the inability to copy a measure properly without? Oh c'mon...

Indeed! I've automated many of these tasks and assigned them to macros (also in an external program) so I sometimes forget how much core functionality is actually missing in Finale.

I submitted a bug report. It's a serious enough bug that's been around long enough (since Finale 2011) that I suspect they don't know about it.
My entirely speculative theory is that, since rhythmic values are stored internally with a quarter-note being a power of 2 (4096, I think), all-non-tuplet values and their locations are intergral numbers but a tuplet is not, and so there's some round-off error somewhere. Why the number of staves should make a difference is a mystery, though!

I didn't understand it. Can you elaborate?
I'm actually not in need of a workaround--this came up as a result of the recent rebeaming thread rather than being a problem for me--but I'm curious to see it.

Instead of selecting the source measure the normal way, drag just a bit further to the beginning (first note) of the next measure. Then press ctrl-C. In the destination measure, select the whole measure the normal way. Press Ctrl-V.

I can't recall. It popped into me mind from some distant memory. Why it seems to work I don't know.motet wrote:I see--yes, that does work. How did you discover that?
