I've tried to find posts referring to this issue but my search didn't show any. I've had it in more than one version of Finale though, 25 and 2014 for certain, and possibly already in 2012, I can't recall exactly.

The issue is that I constantly have to click three times on subtools in Smart Shapes and Special Tools to get them activated, meaning: click on the subtool intended, then on another one, then on the intended one again. At least that is how I get it to work. Anyway, it's practically (!) never enough to click just once. It's really strange that this would not be mentioned here by anyone if it's a commonly known bug. So, maybe I'm the chosen one. It's, needless to say, extremely annoying.

I haven't noticed that, but I have hot keys set up for slurs and hairpins so that may be shielding me. Occasionally, though the proper tool appears selected in the Smart Shape palette, it will be the wrong one and I'll need to switch to another and back, which could be related to your problem, but this happens only very occasionally. With special tools, never.

Anders Hedelin,

I notice that your problem is with sub-tool palettes.

What about the two palettes in the Simple Entry Tool? - No problems there?

By The Way:
I suppose that the problem is not document specific?

Peter, thanks for your reply! I never use the Simple Entry Tool, so I couldn't say. The problem is not document-related, it occurs all the time, whether in a newly created document or in an old one, regardless of format or size.

Anders,

I wonder what steps you have tried already - just so that we can rule out things.

Have you e. g. tried removing the Preferences file?
(Quit Finale first!)
When you launch Finale again, it will create a fresh, new Preferences file.

There are complaints about this on the other board but I can't say I've noticed it.

Yep, I've been having that problem with Smart Shapes. I have it set up with a hotkey, but most often I have to click a couple times for it to come up. Thought it was just me. Glad to see I'm not the only one.
